Compare rather than rely
Different forecast models use different resolutions and assumptions. Check model agreement, update times and trends instead of treating one wind value as certain. Forecast confidence usually decreases further into the future.
Terrain changes the picture
Ridges, valleys and thermal activity can create wind conditions unlike those in a nearby town. A model cannot describe every launch-site effect. Combine forecasts with current observations and qualified local knowledge.
Keep the option not to fly
Set conservative limits with your instructor before arriving at take-off. If conditions change or exceed your experience, choose not to launch. No weather website or article can certify that a flight is safe.
